2021-Present IRC Refugee Writing Tutor
During the school year I volunteer tutor K-12 refugees in writing and English language. Since many of the kids come from the Middle East and Latin America, being half Hispanic and half Arab makes me perfectly placed to help serve my diverse range of students. The tutoring is a great personal reminder of the importance of offering kids the tools to foster their voices.

2020-2021 Second Chance Educational Alliance Writing Tutor
I worked as a volunteer writing tutor, helping formerly incarcerated individuals in their efforts to gain a college degree. It was an incredibly fulfilling program where I got the chance to reintroduce the world of composition and literature to those who had not been in school for decades. Offering that population the tools to articulate their experiences was extraordinarily rewarding.

2019-2021 UConn Writing Center
I tutored undergraduate and graduate students on their writing, supporting students in diverse fields, from lab reports to policy proposals and creative writing to medical school applications. While working at the Writing Center, I assisted with research dedicated to transforming the way we consider “good” writing and challenge white language supremacy. I was also fortunate enough to perform research dedicated to understanding grammar instruction and its place in the center.
